fire emblem nonsense

I've shut the game off in the middle of battles about 90% of the time 'cause I won't allow anyone to die but I really want to play it on classic
This is probably why I am nowhere near finished
But even just the opening battle... literally hadn't even met these people yet and the game was stabbing me in the heart. Why.
It's okay though I'm best friends with Chrom and that makes most of it better
